Cybersecurity & COVID-19

April 4, 2020

Dear Clients, Colleagues and Friends,

Unfortunately, cyber criminals are capitalizing
on the outbreak through phishing attacks and other intricate scams. The
Internal Revenue Service warns all to be on the lookout for a surge of calls
and email phishing attempts around COVID-19 and stimulus payments/programs that
can lead to tax-related fraud, identity theft, or infection of your device with
malware. Remain on high alert for not only phishing emails, but also text
messages, websites and social media that request person information and/or
money.

Remain cautious of emails that appear to be
from organizations such as the CDC or the WHO, emails that ask for charity
donations, and emails that claim to have a listing of cases of COVID-19 in your
area, etc… These emails could contain malicious links to try and steal your
personal information.

Do not engage with potential scammers online or
on the phone, and report phishing to the official organization instead.
